This is a classic British dessert, and it’s one of my favorites. It’s made with bananas, butter, sugar, eggs, and baking powder. The best part about this dish is that you can make it in advance and eat it later!
Jamie Oliver has a recipe for banoffee pie. The pie is made with bananas, caramel and toffee sauce.
You’ve been missing out if you’ve never had the pleasure of eating a piece of handmade banoffee pie. Banoffee pie is a simple English dish prepared with fresh banana slices, toffee (from whence the name comes), and dollops of handmade whipped cream.
It’s delicious and rich, and it’s the ideal dessert for picnics, barbecues, and other get-togethers. It’s a creamy treat with a delectable buttery crust that elevates each mouthful. Banoffee pie is a wonderful dish to prepare ahead of time since it just takes about half an hour to put together.
Ingredients for Banoffee Pie
A graham cracker crust (made at home or purchased from a shop), lots of fresh bananas, dulce de leche, and toffee, as well as whipped cream, are required for bananaoffee pie. Banoffee pie would not be complete without dulce de leche. Dulce de leche is just milk that has been caramelized. Heat sweetened condensed milk until it becomes a deep brown color to create it.
Banoffee Pie: A Step-by-Step Guide
Creating the graham cracker crust is the first step in making banoffee pie. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the graham cracker crumbs, butter, sugar, and salt until the ingredients are equally distributed. Bake for 8 minutes at 350F after pressing the crumbs into a pie plate.
Pour some dulce de leche over the crust after it has cooled somewhat. Toss the bananas together, then top with toffee bits and additional dulce de leche. Heavy cream and sugar should be whisked together until firm peaks form. Pour in the vanilla extract, then dollop dollops of whipped cream on top of the pie.
Put the pie in the fridge for at least half an hour to harden before garnishing with additional dulce de leche, chocolate, or chopped almonds. The longer you leave it, the more firm it will get, and the simpler it will be to carve your banoffee pie!
Toppings for Banoffee Pie
Garnish your banoffee pie with chocolate shavings for added flair. It would also be great with some chopped nuts. Hazelnuts, peanuts, or pecans, chopped
How to Make the Best Banoffee Pie
Banoffee pie may be made up to one day ahead of time.
Allow your pie to set in the fridge for a few minutes longer if it is too runny.
Place the graham cracker mixture in a food processor and pulse a few times to create finer crumbs.
Make sure the crust isn’t overbaked. A bright golden brown should be your goal.
There’s nothing quite like dulce de leche. You can caramelize sweetened condensed milk if you don’t have any. Because caramel sauce does not solidify, it is not a suitable alternative in this recipe.
Cover your bananas fully to prevent them from becoming brown. If you like, a little spritz of lemon juice may be added, although this may give a lemony taste, so don’t go crazy.
How to Keep Banoffee Pie Fresh
Refrigerate the pie for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
Is Banoffee Pie Freezable?
Banoffee pie freezes nicely if you don’t top it with whipped cream before putting it in the freezer. Because cream does not freeze well, add the whipped cream after the banana layer has been defrosted.
